With summer fast approaching, the University of Missouri is ready to kick off a full slate of construction projects that will strengthen campus for decades to come.

Crews will begin several new projects and complete others, including the much-anticipated Memorial Stadium Centennial Project.

Details on many of these projects can be found below. Completion dates may shift due to weather or project conditions.

Signs will be posted to help pedestrians and drivers navigate around worksites. A list of projects affecting streets, sidewalks and parking can be found on the Campus Facilities construction impact map.

New projects

Energy Innovation Center

The Energy Innovation Center (EIC) is a 116,000-square-foot research facility planned just north of Lafferre Hall. The $120 million project, scheduled for completion in Fall 2028, will support emerging research in energy technology and help recruit faculty working in areas of global importance. The EIC will include advanced laboratory space and shared research areas.

6th Street Road Closure

To support the construction of the EIC and provide safe access for utility connections and equipment, 6th Street will close from East Stewart Road to McAlester Hall beginning after commencement May 18. The intersection of Stewart Road and 6th Street is expected to reopen in August, while the rest of 6th street will remain closed through most of the project. The temporary closure will improve pedestrian safety and allow crews to work efficiently near the future home of the EIC. Pedestrian access to Naka Hall will remain open, and the Tiger Line shuttle route will temporarily relocate to Stewart Road.

Radioisotope Science Center

Work will begin next month on the Discovery Ridge Radioisotope Science Center (RSC), a 36,100-square-foot facility located at U.S. Highway 63 and Discovery Parkway. RSC will expand national isotope production capacity by creating a medical-grade isotope production capability for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Research inside the $40 million facility will support the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) and DOE reactors across the country. Completion is expected in Summer 2028, with the facility serving as a flexible space for research, training and production. The center is being constructed through a $20 million DOE grant and a matching $20 million award from the State of Missouri.

Jesse Hall First Floor Renovations

A gift from David and Wendy Novak is supporting renovations to Jesse Hall’s first floor, including refreshed gathering spaces, a new reception desk, updated displays and HVAC and lighting upgrades. Most of the work will finish this summer, with remaining elements completed before Homecoming.

Tiger Avenue Parking Structure

The $6 million renovation of the 30‑year‑old Tiger Avenue Parking Structure, which began in March, continues through the summer. Improvements are being made to drainage, lighting, stairwells, signage and exterior elements. Work is expected to conclude before the Fall 2026 semester. The structure will close beginning May 18 and continuing through the summer, and permit holders will be relocated. Limited parking for people with disabled parking placecards and emergency‑use parking will remain available throughout the project.

Children’s Hospital Third-Floor Buildout

MU Health Care is building out the third floor of Children’s Hospital to add seven new operating rooms, including two with real-time MRI capability, as well as pre-operative and recovery spaces. The $51 million project is scheduled for completion in June 2027.

Summer Paving Projects

Routine paving and maintenance work will take place on roads and parking lots across campus throughout the summer. The projects include the repaving of Missouri Avenue, the WC2 parking lot and drive lanes from College Avenue near the Physics Building to the Sears Greenhouse, and the WG11 parking lot at Lewis & Clark Halls. Dates will be posted on the construction impact map as schedules are finalized.

Continuing projects

Michael L. Parson Meat Science Education & Learning Laboratory

The $35 million meat science facility remains on track for completion this summer.

Memorial Stadium

Work continues on the $250 million renovation, scheduled to debut ahead of the 2026 football season. The project includes an enclosed north end zone, new premium seating, upgraded concessions, and a new scoreboard and Rock M Club, among other improvements.

Dr. Dan Brown Building

The 73,000-square‑foot facility, which supports diagnostic, teaching and research functions for veterinary medicine, remains scheduled for completion in January 2027.
