WHAT:
In recognition of the 25th anniversary of Patriot Day, the University of Missouri will hold two separate events to remember the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.
On Sept. 8, the university will host a screening of the film “The Heroism and Resilience of 9/11: From Tragedy to Triumph” in partnership with the Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic. The event will include remarks from Mizzou School of Law Dean Paul Litton and Director of Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic Brent Filbert.
On Sept. 11, the university will host a wreath-laying ceremony in partnership with the City of Columbia. The ceremony will include a procession and wreath laying; presentation of the colors by the Mizzou ROTC Joint Service Color Guard and City of Columbia Honor Guard; speaker remarks by Mizzou Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Matthew Martens and City of Columbia Mayor Barbara Buffaloe; and a flyover by an MU Health Care helicopter. Music will be provided by Boone County Fire Protection District Pipe and Drums as well as students and faculty from the Mizzou School of Music.
