COLUMBIA, Mo. — The University of Missouri will host several historic events Wednesday, Sept. 2, that showcase a commitment to the future of scholarship, research and athletics.
The day will begin with the announcement of a transformational gift to the university from David Payne, Mizzou alumnus and chairman of PayneCrest Electric, as part of the university's most ambitious fundraising effort ever, the Power the Roar campaign.
Next, university leaders will break ground on the Energy Innovation Center, which will accelerate innovation in energy technology, policy and workforce development to meet the world's growing energy challenges.
Finally, Mizzou leaders will cut the ribbon on the $250-million North End Zone renovation as part of the Memorial Stadium Centennial Project, a major investment that strengthens Mizzou’s competitive position in the SEC while creating an elevated game-day experience for fans and alumni.
Media availabilities with campus leaders will take place after each of these events.
That night, the university will also host a Power the Roar campaign milestone celebration open to the local community at Traditions Plaza on the Carnahan Quad beginning at 8:30 p.m.

3-3:30 p.m.: Memorial Stadium Centennial Project Ribbon Cutting, Gate 1, North End Zone
8:30-9:30 p.m.: Power the Roar Campaign Milestone Celebration, Traditions Plaza, Carnahan Quad
Parking will be available in Conley Avenue Parking Structure, Turner Avenue Garage and Athletics Lot J.
