Eight outstanding students arrived at the University of Missouri this fall with big ambitions — and the support to pursue them.

They are Mizzou’s newest Stamps Scholars, joining a select community of high-achieving students who receive one of the university’s most prestigious scholarship opportunities.

Mizzou is one of 38 universities across the United States and United Kingdom partnering with the Stamps Scholars Program to offer one of the nation’s premier scholarship opportunities for incoming students.

Mizzou has partnered with the program since 2017 and welcomed more than 50 Stamps Scholars over the years, including one of its largest cohort yet: eight students who joined the university this fall. The four-year scholarship covers the full estimated cost of attendance, including housing, and provides an additional $16,000 enrichment fund students can use throughout their time at Mizzou.

“We are incredibly grateful for the partnership we have built with the Stamps Scholars Program,” Honors College Dean Catherine Rymph said. “Stamps Scholars bring an extraordinary combination of curiosity and ambition to Mizzou. The scholarship allows students to pursue their academic interests while also encouraging them to explore opportunities beyond the classroom. We’re excited to welcome a new cohort to campus and watch as they develop into future leaders.”

Stamps Scholars at Mizzou are enrolled in the Honors College throughout their time on campus, working toward the completion of the Honors Certificate. Scholars have a dedicated mentor, contact with campus leadership, alumni networking opportunities and funding for study abroad. Each student participates in undergraduate research as well, working with their mentor to find a project that fits their interests.

This year’s cohort will be pursuing a variety of degrees at Mizzou, including secondary education, social work, biochemistry and biomedical engineering.

“One of the many things that makes our Stamps Scholars community so vibrant is the range of interests and experiences these students bring to campus and to their cohort,” Rymph said. “Whatever their field of study, these students are eager to make an impact through their work and service. We look forward to seeing how their different interests shape their Mizzou experience.”
