Keith Kenter, professor in the University of Missouri School of Medicine’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, was recently elected director-elect of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). His 10-year term began on Oct. 1.
With more than 25 years of experience diagnosing and treating sports injuries, Kenter specializes in shoulder and elbow surgery and orthopaedic sports medicine. He currently serves as director of the Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery Fellowship Program at Mizzou.
Founded in 1934, the ABOS is a private, voluntary, nonprofit and independent organization dedicated to serving the best interests of both the public and the medical profession. It fulfills this mission by establishing standards for the education of orthopaedic surgeons.
Kenter has been a longtime ABOS volunteer, including writing examination questions and serving as an oral examiner. Additionally, he has served on the editorial board and contributed as a reviewer for several prominent orthopaedic surgery journals.
