Thirteen MU students receive Gilman Scholarship

As recipients of the U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program, 13 Tigers will travel overseas in 2023–24. The scholarship enables students with financial barriers to study or intern abroad, providing them with skills critical to U.S. security and economic prosperity.

Among the 13, two MU students qualified for Critical Need Language Awards, a supplemental award for students studying a critical need language while abroad in a country or location in which the language is predominantly spoken.

This year’s recipients are:

Breyony Allen

• Senior elementary education major from Kansas City, Missouri
• Destination: Costa Rica

Hailee Howard

• Senior nursing major, who is also pursuing the Honors certificate, from Lee’s Summit, Missouri
• Destination: Costa Rica

Danielle Jennings

• Junior architectural studies major from Columbia
• Destination: Italy

Jalen Moore

• Senior business administration major from Independence, Missouri
• Destination: United Kingdom

Jenna Nguyen

• Senior international studies major from Farmington, Missouri
• Destination: South Korea

• Senior international studies major, who is also pursuing the Honors certificate, from Columbia
• Destination: Jordan

Rubencito Reyes

• Junior business administration major from Bridgeton, Missouri
• Destination: Spain

• Senior interdisciplinary studies major from Columbia
• Destination: South Korea

Allyson Sampson

• Senior animal sciences major from Sedalia, Missouri
• Destination: Ireland

Dylan Stover

• Senior agribusiness management and plant sciences major, who is also pursuing the Honors certificate from Saint Peters, Missouri
• Destination: New Zealand

Feather (Amy) Teghtmeyer

• Senior natural resource science and management major from Blue Springs, Missouri
• Destination: Austria

Kariona Thompson

• Junior nursing major from Kansas City, Missouri
• Destination: South Korea

Kyle Yerby

• Senior music major, who is also pursuing the Honors certificate, from Wildwood, Missouri
• Destination: Austria
