Nineteen University of Missouri Collegiate DECA (formerly Distributive Education Clubs of America) members traveled to Baltimore to compete in the 2022 Collegiate DECA International Career Development Conference. For the first time in Mizzou DECA history, every student who attended qualified for finals and placed in the top 10 of their category.

Mizzou Collegiate DECA Advisor Lindsay Hing said over 850 students from hundreds of higher education institutions across the United States and the United Kingdom were at the competition. Competitive events comprise many topics including business management and administration, hospitality and tourism, entrepreneurship and marketing.

"I am so proud of our students and all they have accomplished as representatives of MU and the Trulaske College of Business," she said.

Collegiate DECA allows students to put their experience, skills and knowledge to the test while representing their university. The organization assists in developing academically prepared, community-oriented, professionally responsible and experienced leaders.

"It has been so rewarding to be a member of Mizzou DECA this year. In our first year fully back in person, we had record membership turnout, the highest competition attendance we've had since my freshman year, the first time in chapter history that all members that competed at ICDC placed in the Top 10 of their respective category, and we had our chapter president defend her international title and win her event for the second year in a row," Davis Kendrick, a senior who won first place in Hotel & Lodging Management, said. "Going back and competing in person helped reignite our members' passion for DECA and allowed us to fully showcase our skills and knowledge. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for our chapter, and I know that our members are going to continue to excel and exceed expectations.".
