Melissa Herzog receives Faculty Excellence Award from Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance

Melissa Herzog, assistant teaching professor and graduate advisor for youth development in the Department of Human Development and Family Science at the University of Missouri, recently received the 2021 Faculty Excellence Award from Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (IDEA). Herzog has been with the Great Plains IDEA youth development program since 2008. Along with teaching courses and advising graduate students, she is also in her second term as faculty coordinator and provides program leadership by preparing annual reports, overseeing course and program assessment, and leading the faculty’s recent comprehensive curriculum review and revision process.

Great Plains IDEA is a consortium of public universities from across the United States and offers online, flexible and affordable degree and certificate programs across a range of subjects in human services and agriculture. The graduate program in youth development specializes in training professionals in the principles and practices that promote positive outcomes for young people in a variety of settings.
