Kristen Smarr has been named associate vice chancellor for communications and marketing. Smarr has served at the University of Missouri for more than 20 years, including 14 years as the director of marketing and communications for the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. In 2018, she joined MU’s Joint Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing and has focused on enhanced integration and planning among communicators across Mizzou’s campus.

The Joint Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing serves as an integral partner to the Mizzou campus as well as the UM System. Smarr and her team help promote the University of Missouri’s mission through branded marketing campaigns, social media, public relations, web development, brand education and licensing.

A graduate of William Jewell College, Smarr earned her degree in public relations.

"I have spent most of my career at Mizzou and have had the chance to work with so many amazing people,” Smarr said. “I look forward to building networks that empower employees to do their best work daily and be powerful ambassadors for Mizzou.”
