Two University of Missouri juniors, Jessica Blake and Claire Shipp, were recently named Truman Scholarship finalists. They are among 193 scholarship finalists in the country and were selected from more than 800 applications.

Established by Congress in 1975 as the living memorial to President Harry S. Truman, the Truman Scholarship supports and inspires the next generation of public service leaders.

Truman Scholars demonstrate outstanding leadership potential, a commitment to a career in government or the nonprofit sector and academic excellence. Each scholar receives funding for graduate studies, leadership training, career counseling and special internship and fellowship opportunities within the federal government.

The 2021 Truman Scholars will be announced on April 14, 2021.
