During the past few months, more than 130 professionals have worked together on our Show Me Renewal plan. Here’s a look at some of the signage, protocols and space modifications you can expect when you return to campus.
- Keeping space between you and others is the best tool we have to avoid being exposed to COVID-19. Everyone should maintain social distancing of 6 feet both on and off campus.
- You are required to wear face coverings that cover both your mouth and nose on campus in most situations. If you are unable to wear a face covering of any type, you should reach out to the Disability Center (students) or Office of Accessibility and ADA (employees and guests) to identify reasonable accommodations. More info: https://renewal.missouri.edu/students/ Policies regarding face coverings will adjust according to changes in local public health requirements and guidance.
- Instructors will wear clear face shields and/or face coverings when teaching in-person classes. You’ll also see staff wearing face coverings when working in common areas of residential halls, student rooms and campus dining facilities.
- There will be fewer students in classrooms to maintain social distancing requirements. Seats will be marked as to which ones can be used to ensure you are seated at a safe distance.
- Staff will clean and disinfect classrooms and common areas multiple times daily.
- Custodial Services has disinfected all campus spaces prior to repopulation, per CDC guidelines. Custodians clean high-touch surfaces such as building entrance door bars and elevator buttons frequently throughout their shift.
- Hand sanitizer will be placed at the entrances of all buildings, and disinfecting wipes will be available in classrooms and throughout campus facilities.
- When in doubt, look for the signs. It’s important you read and follow the directions that have been set. Here are some of the types of signs you’ll see across campus.
- In addition to classroom changes, furniture has been rearranged to encourage social distancing in common areas.
- Seating areas have been spread out, and are sometimes blocked off, to maintain a 6-foot distance between individuals. While indoors, please continue to practice social distancing and wear face coverings, as required.
- The Student Center will be available for use with modified seating.
- Floor clings have been placed in high-traffic areas to help visitors visualize what 6 feet apart really looks like.
- When you’re outside, you’re also encouraged to practice social distancing and wear a face covering when you’re within 6 feet of others.
- Frequent hand washing (with soap and water for at least 20 seconds) should be practiced throughout the day. If soap and water are not readily available, you can use an ethyl alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains 60%-95% alcohol.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing. Be sure to throw used tissues in the trash and wash your hands with soap and water immediately after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose.
- Tigers are expected to take proactive steps to monitor your personal health, stay home if you are feeling unwell and protect the safety of our entire community. If you think you have had contact with a person identified as testing positive, stay home and call your health care provider (MU Student Health Center, if you’re a student) for guidance regarding testing.
- Mental health is an important aspect of overall well-being. It may be difficult to avoid mental health challenges right now, but there are things we can do to improve our ability to cope with difficult situations and mental health concerns.
Each of us has the power to help slow the spread of coronavirus. By social distancing, wearing face coverings, practicing hand hygiene and monitoring our symptoms, we can ensure a successful semester at Mizzou. That’s how #TigersSupportTigers.
