Elizabeth Malm-Buatsi honored with Hickman Award

Elizabeth Malm-Buatsi won the highest honor in medical education bestowed by the University of Missouri — the Jane Hickman Teaching Award — during the School of Medicine’s 2020 Education Day.

Malm-Buatsi is an associate professor of urology who serves as a pediatric urologist at MU Health Care’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Earlier this year, Malm-Buatsi was named a 2020 Young Urologist of the Year by the American Urological Association for her efforts and commitment to advancing workforce diversity and mentorship.

Malm-Buatsi was nominated for the award by her peers for her positive attitude, constant encouragement and excellent teaching. In their evaluations, medical students have recognized Malm-Buatsi for her passion for individualized and accountable education. She was applauded for demonstrating the essence of the Jane Hickman Teaching Award through her commitment to patients, students, residents, fellow physicians and other members of the health care team.
