Not every Tiger starts their college journey at the University of Missouri.

But transferring doesn't mean starting from scratch. From peer mentors to hundreds of student organizations, Mizzou offers plenty of ways to connect, get involved and make campus feel like home.

In celebration of National Transfer Student Week, Oct. 19-23, here’s how Mizzou helps transfer students make the most of their college experience.

1. A home base for transfer students

Starting at a new university comes with plenty of questions. Mizzou's Transfer Center gives students a place to find answers, connect with campus resources and meet others who understand what it's like to start somewhere new.

Whether they're looking for campus resources, social connections or advice on navigating their new home, students can turn to the Transfer Center for support.

2. Advice from someone who's been there

Who better to help a new transfer student than someone who's already made the transition?

Through Mizzou's Transfer Experience and Advising Mentors (TEAM) program, incoming transfer students can connect with Tigers who know the ropes. From finding classes to getting involved on campus, the peer mentors at TEAM can offer practical advice and friendly faces along the way.

3. Hundreds of ways to get involved

Coming to Mizzou means joining a community with hundreds of opportunities to explore new interests and meet new people.

With more than 700 student organizations, transfer students can find others who share their interests — whether that's volunteering, pursuing professional goals or trying something completely new.

And Tigers can start exploring student organizations the minute they arrive on campus.

4. A special honor society

Tau Sigma is an academic honor society that recognizes and promotes academic excellence among transfer students. Members have opportunities to take on leadership roles, meet fellow transfer students and connect with a national network of more than 200 universities.

5. A whole week dedicated to transfer students

National Transfer Student Week, Oct. 19-23, gives Tigers plenty of reasons to celebrate. Take a break with dogs on Kulman Court, get career advice at the Student Success Center, hike the MKT Trail or grab some snacks while connecting with fellow transfer students.

National recognition for supporting transfer students

Mizzou's commitment to transfer students hasn't gone unnoticed. For the fourth consecutive year, the university has earned a spot on the Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll.

The national recognition reflects Mizzou's efforts to help transfer students succeed academically, socially and financially.
