University of Missouri President Mun Choi was awarded an Honorary State FFA degree at the 97th Annual Missouri FFA Convention at the Hearnes Center.
The Honorary State FFA Degree is given to a person or persons who have made substantial, sustained contributions to the success of the Missouri FFA Association. It is the highest honor that can be presented by FFA on the state-level. President Choi was nominated by Missouri FFA State Officers.
“I’m pleased to receive this prestigious recognition and proud of Mizzou’s leading role in supporting the next generation of Missouri agriculture,” President Choi said. “We are always thrilled to welcome FFA members to our campus and to support their incredible accomplishments during the convention and throughout the year. I want to thank all Missouri FFA members for this incredible honor.”
President Choi was surprised with the honorary degree at the conclusion of his remarks during the fifth and final session of the 2025 convention.
The University of Missouri is a longtime partner with Missouri FFA in preparing the next generation to advance Missouri agriculture and meet the state’s workforce needs. Mizzou’s campus has hosted the annual convention for 94 years. Annually, more than 10,000 FFA members and supporters attend the convention from communities across the state.
Mizzou students, faculty and staff provide extensive volunteer support for the annual convention, including College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) faculty who serve as superintendents for Career Development Events. CAFNR undergraduates majoring in agricultural education also serve as student superintendents. Half of the current FFA State Officers are Mizzou students.
