University of Missouri President Mun Choi announced today that Angela King Taylor has been named vice chancellor for student affairs following a robust national search. The appointment is effective immediately. King Taylor has served as interim in the role since June 2023.
“Vice Chancellor King Taylor is an incredible champion of student success with a proven commitment to excellence,” President Choi said. “Under her visionary leadership, we will continue to strengthen our Mizzou community and prepare the next generation of accomplished leaders for Missouri and beyond.”
The vice chancellor for student affairs plays a vital role in supporting student success. During her time as interim, King Taylor strengthened the culture of the Division of Student Affairs and measurably improved student sense of belonging and engagement across the institution. Key initiatives like the Healthy Community Initiative and the TIGERS learning framework are just a few examples of her innovative leadership and her impact on student health and wellbeing, co-curricular learning and the overall student experience at Mizzou.
King Taylor joined the Mizzou family in September 2021 as associate dean of students, focusing on student engagement. She has more than 20 years of experience leading student and faculty affairs teams at institutions such as Syracuse, Loyola University Chicago and the University of Kansas.
“I am honored to serve as the vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of Missouri,” King Taylor said. “Our students are at the heart of everything we do, and I am excited to continue to lead our talented team to enhance their experience, foster belonging and support their success. Together, we will build on our momentum to ensure Mizzou remains a place where all students can thrive.”
