Ravi Barabote, an associate teaching professor at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, recently received the Advising Shout Out Award from the Mizzou Advisors Forum. Barabote is a faculty member in the Department of Veterinary Pathobiology.

Presented twice each semester since 2011, this award honors undergraduate advisors who help students create and achieve educational plans aligned with their life goals. Barabote is the first College of Veterinary Medicine faculty member to earn the award.

Barabote has been advising undergraduate students since 2021 and received four anonymous nominations.

“Dr. Barabote is the best academic advisor I’ve had in my long academic career of 20-plus years and six-plus schools,” one of Barabote’s nominators wrote. “He works exceptionally hard to develop academic plans to ensure that students know what they need to take and when to take it in order to meet their goals.”

Barabote said he was honored and surprised to receive the award.

“It’s a real pleasure for me to advise and serve our undergraduate students, and this recognition inspires me to excel and do even more for our students every day,” he said.
