University of Missouri Interim Provost Matthew Martens, the MU Counseling Center’s Charles Burgess and Jessica Santiago, and the campus community recently gathered for a wreath-laying ceremony to remember the lives of Mizzou's students, faculty and staff who have died from March 2023 through March 2024.
“We honor the memories of our late students, faculty and staff and to offer support to their family, friends and colleagues,” said University of Missouri President Mun Choi. “We value each member of the Mizzou community. MU Remembers recognizes the impact of those we lost and commemorates their ongoing legacy.”
During the ceremony, the Switzler Hall bell tolled after each name was read. All MU flags were flown at half-mast for the day and the Jesse Hall dome was darkened through the night. Student names have been added to the tribute plaque in Memorial Union.
“MU is a vibrant community made up of students, faculty, and staff from across the nation and around the world,” said Martens. “Today, we mourn these significant losses from the Mizzou family while we also celebrate the contributions each individual made to our university community.”
