The University of Missouri’s College of Arts and Science recently announced that Jared R. Rawlings will begin serving as the director of the School of Music effective July 1, 2023.
Rawlings comes to Mizzou from the University of Utah’s School of Music where he has served as an associate professor of music education and associate director. At Utah, Rawlings has demonstrated high-level leadership in developing cross-campus initiatives and supporting faculty in scholarly and creative pursuits. His work has appeared in leading research journals and texts, particularly in the area of music teacher education.
Rawlings’ experience and innovative vision for the future will advance the School of Music’s mission: to prepare students to make meaningful contributions in the world as performers, composers, teachers and scholars.
“I am deeply honored to join the distinguished faculty and lead the school as we educate the next generation of performers, educators, creators and leaders for the 21st century,” Rawlings said.
