Rachel Proffitt, an associate professor of occupational therapy in the University of Missouri College of Health Sciences, was recently elected to the Board of Governors of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM).
Proffitt was elected secretary of the board for a position that will take effect at the ACRM’s annual meeting this November in Atlanta. In addition to acting as secretary during board meetings, Proffitt will chair the ACRM Bylaws, Policy and Procedures Committee and serve as a member of the organization’s Executive and Finance Committee.
The ACRM is an interdisciplinary organization of rehabilitation professionals from all over the world. Members engage in research, education, and advocacy aimed at promoting health, independence, productivity, and quality of life for people with chronic disabling conditions.
Proffitt previously won the Young Investigator Award from the ACRM for her work in post-stroke care, measurement, and/or stroke patient outcomes. Her research aims to improve the health and well-being of adults and older adults using smart, home-based technology.
