Mizzou Respiratory Therapy program receives elite Apex designation

March 7, 2023

The University of Missouri Respiratory Therapy program was recently recognized among the best in the nation after receiving several competitive awards, including the American Association for Respiratory Care’s elite Apex Award for 2023–24 and two awards from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care.

Respiratory care programs that demonstrate best practices in the education of respiratory therapists and quality of care are considered for the Apex Award, according to the AARC.

The program also received the 2022 CoARC President’s Award for Excellence in Credentialing Success and the 2022 CoARC Distinguished Registered Respiratory Therapist Credentialing Success Award. Graduates of the Mizzou Respiratory Therapy program consistently score well above the national average on board exams. These awards recognize the program’s continued success in preparing graduates to deliver patient care that is safe and effective.

“We are incredibly proud to continue the tradition this program has had since its inception in 1967 of preparing students to function at the highest level of respiratory care,” said Jennifer Keely, program director and registered respiratory therapist and critical care specialist. “These awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, clinical preceptors and students. Our goal has always been to provide the best education and training for our students, and this recognition confirms that we are achieving that goal.”
