The University of Missouri celebrates the faculty who champion student success, research, teaching and learning during Faculty Excellence Week, April 26 to May 3. Several events will be held to recognize faculty achievements and awards. A full list of events can be found here.
Highlights of Faculty Excellence Week include the following events (please note, some events are invitation only and not open to the public or media):
Faculty Excellence Week Kickoff
11 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday, April 26
South steps of Jesse Hall
Co-hosted by the Faculty Council, President Mun Choi and Provost Latha Ramchand
This casual event will include food trucks, Truman the Tiger, Marching Mizzou, a t-shirt giveaway and an opportunity to engage with faculty members.
Faculty Recognition Awards Ceremony (Invite Only)
Wednesday, April 26
This event will celebrate recipients of UM System Awards, Chancellor and Provost Awards for teaching, research, service, leadership and extension, as well as prestigious and highly-prestigious external awards from the past year.
Faculty Book Authors Celebration (Invite Only)
Thursday, April 27
This event will recognize MU faculty who authored or edited new books in 2022.
Celebration of Philanthropy Luncheon (Invite Only)
Friday, April 28
This event offers a unique opportunity to connect named professors with the donors who make their positions possible.
Celebration of Teaching Conference
Friday-Saturday, April 28-29
Hosted by the Teaching for Learning Center
This is the 14th annual conference and will host a variety of speakers and panel sessions.
Celebration of Excellence in Research and Creative Activity

Hosted by the Division of Research, Innovation and Impact
This event celebrates the outstanding achievements and contributions of MU faculty by highlighting special awards and honors conferred by external organizations. A keynote address will be given by molecular and developmental biologist Dr. Alejandro Sánchez Alvarado, executive director and chief scientific officer at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research in Kansas City. The focus of his presentation is “Understanding the Sources of Regenerative Capacities in America.”
Kemper Fellows Reception and Awards Ceremony (Invite Only)

This special event honors the newest class of Kemper Teaching Fellows, MU’s highest teaching distinction.
