Fourteen MU students and alumni honored by National Science Foundation

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported STEM disciplines who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees at accredited U.S. institutions. The five-year fellowship includes three years of financial support including an annual stipend of $34,000 and a cost of education allowance of $12,000 to the institution.

Eight MU students and alumni were recently selected for the program, with another six given honorable mention.

  • *Joseph Fritsche, biochemistry
  • *James Gamble, economics
  • Jasmine Godwin, human development and family science
  • Lucas Kuehnel, chemical engineering
  • *Daniel Lamm, systems and molecular biology
  • Brooklin Runge, electrical and electronic engineering
  • Chantelle Wimms, ecology
This year’s honorable mentions:
  • Huda Ansaf, systems and molecular biology
  • Summer Bjorn, biogeochemistry
  • *Alyssa Labonte, neurosciences
  • *Samantha Lapka, social psychology
  • Allison Salamone, atmospheric chemistry
  • Alyssa Smolensky, computationally intensive research
