Alina Peterson, a senior marketing major in the University of Missouri Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business, recently teamed up with four students from other universities across the country and took home the top prize at The Pitch Competition sponsored by E&J Gallo and Breakthru Beverages. Peterson and team crafted a winning marketing plan for ASAP Rocky’s Mercer + Prince whiskey, incorporating tasting events at underground bars and a mobile pop-up truck for festivals, highlighting the power of collaboration and innovation.
“The experience taught me that working together with people from different perspectives and backgrounds is far more valuable than working with people who you can identify with closely,” Peterson said. “What really propelled our group forward was our different ideas and perspectives. But we were able to work collaboratively to create a strategy that we would not have been able to create individually.”
For the awards, Peterson and her team went to E&J Gallo Winery and vineyards and heard from a panel of industry speakers. Members of the winning team also received specially-engraved iPads.
