The MU Retirees Association (MURA) recently hosted its spring social in the Walsworth Family Columns Club at Memorial Stadium. Nearly 100 former faculty and staff members gathered to celebrate their ongoing connection to Mizzou and the local community.
MURA President Ruth Tofle presented three years’ worth of Kitty Dickerson Scholarships to MU students, as well as the Chancellor’s Retiree of the Year awards to those who exemplify the organization’s mission of service. Each Chancellor’s Retiree of the Year winner also received a $1,000 check.
Honored at the event were:
2020 MURA Kitty Dickerson Scholarship winners receiving $1,000
- Darius Lee, finance and banking major. Son of Myra Kelly from the Division of Information Technology, business support specialist.
- Brianna Wittenborn, digital storytelling and graphic design major. Daughter of Nancy Wittenborn from MU Health Care, manager of revenue cycle training.
- InHam Kim, mechanical engineering and mathematics major. Son of JaeWoo Kim from Animal Sciences, assistant research professor.

- Darius Lee received a second scholarship.
- Brianna Wittenborn received a second scholarship.
- Daniela Calle, biochemistry major. Daughter of Sandra Zapata from MU Extension, nutrition program associate.
2022 scholarship winners receiving $1,500
- Darius Lee received a third scholarship.
- Brooke Anich, environmental science major. Daughter of Gregory Anich from Procurement Operations, asset management specialist.
- Daniela Calle received a second scholarship.
2020 Chancellor’s Faculty Retiree of the Year
- Brian Brooks, retired from the School of Journalism.
2020 Chancellor’s Staff Retiree of the Year
- Ron Geren, retired from MU Health Care, Plant Engineering.
2021 Chancellor’s Staff Retiree of the Year
- Jacqueline Hall Kelly, retired as UM director for Minority Business Development.
2021 Chancellor’s Faculty Retiree of the Year
- Jeff Chinn, retired from Political Science and as Vice Provost for Instruction.
2022 Chancellor’s Faculty Retiree of the Year
- Susan Flader, retired from the Department of History.
2022 Chancellor’s Staff Retiree of the Year
- Karl Skala, retired from Veterinary Medicine and Surgery.
