Thomas Bonnot, Kristen Heath and Mike Stambaugh were recently awarded the United States Forest Service Chief’s Award. The researchers are members of the Brown-headed Nuthatch reintroduction team, which includes members from multiple universities across the United States.
“It has been a wonderful experience working on this project,” said field coordinator Kristen Heath. “The reintroduction of Brown-headed Nuthatch to Missouri is part of a decades-long ecosystem restoration effort undertaken by many conservation partners, and being involved in this pivotal step is basically the dream job.”
The award recognizes teams that have contributed to the agency’s mission in sustaining America’s forests and grasslands for current and future generations.
