Travel Warning

Students urged to avoid severe winter weather, return to campus Monday, Jan. 16.

Jan. 12, 2017

The Missouri Department of Transportation has issued a winter weather advisory for reduced travel in Missouri starting Thursday night, Jan. 12 through Sunday, Jan. 15. Forecasters are predicting significant amounts of freezing rain, sleet and ice, and MoDOT is advising that travel during this time be avoided, including for students returning from winter break.

The safety of our students and their families is of topmost concern to us, so we are encouraging students not to return to campus for the start of the Spring semester until Monday, Jan. 16. We are hopeful that main highways and interstates will be clear by then and campus will be fully operational. Residence halls will open as scheduled for students who live on campus; however, we encourage students to wait until Monday to return.

We look forward to welcoming you back in a few short days. Until then, enjoy your remaining time away and safe travels back to Columbia.
