Jan. 11, 2021
Contact: Christian Basi, BasiC@missouri.edu

WHAT:

The University of Missouri will begin arrival testing next week. As media representatives will not be allowed in the testing sites, and no photography or videos will be allowed, several officials involved in the planning will be available for questions.

WHO:

  • Stephen Barnes, chief of acute care surgery, MU Health Care
  • John Middleton, professor of veterinary medicine and chair of MU Faculty Council
  • Tyler Page, director of Residential Life
  • Jamie Shutter, executive director of Student Health and Well-Being
  • Bill Stackman, vice chancellor for Student Affairs

WHEN:

1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13.

WHERE:

Reporters wishing to attend the media availability should contact Liz McCune with the MU News Bureau at mccunee@missouri.edu or 573-882-6212 for the virtual meeting information.

NOTE:

“We would expect our case numbers to increase, and possibly spike, during the first couple of weeks of classes,” said Jamie Shutter, executive director of Student Health and Well-Being. “While there has been no evidence that random, asymptomatic testing prevents the spread of the disease, we will look at the data from our arrival testing clinic to see if there is information that can help drive our strategies related to the pandemic in the spring semester.”
