Be prepared for Election Day 2021

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Here are a few frequently asked questions and reminders to help you prepare.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Review our frequently asked questions before you prepare to vote.

Polls across the state open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Voters who are in line by 7 p.m. are entitled to cast a ballot.

Where is my polling place?

All registered Boone County voters can vote at Mizzou Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 3. To find your Boone County polling place, visit www.showmeboone.com/clerk/elections and click on “Where Do I Vote?”

I am a faculty/staff member at Mizzou. Do I get time off to vote?

All university employees may receive time off with pay for the purpose of voting.

What identification do I need to bring to vote?

Examples of acceptable forms of identification can be found on the Missouri Secretary of State’s website.

Where can I find my sample ballot?

Enter your address at Missouri’s Voter Outreach Center.

Voter registration

Missouri’s voter registration period has passed. To register to vote in future elections, visit Vote.gov.

Safety at the polls

Remember to maintain social distancing of 6 feet between individuals and wear a face covering.

What if I am under quarantine?

If you're under quarantine, curbside voting is available through 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Boone County Government Center, 801 E. Walnut on the 9th Street entrance to the building.

Information about absentee and mail-in voting

In-person absentee voting began Sept. 22 and continues through Nov. 2. Eligible voters can fill out an absentee ballot application at the Boone County Government Center at 801 E. Walnut St., show their ID and cast their ballot in person. The clerk's office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. Absentee voting and absentee ballot drop-off will be available at the Boone County Government Center on Ninth Street in the dock area.

In Missouri, absentee ballots must be requested from your county clerk’s office and signed in front of a notary public who will then authorize the ballot before submission. Notaries are available through the Mizzou Cashiers Office from 9 to 5 Mondays and Wednesdays in 325 Jesse Hall, Student Affairs on Fridays in 2202 MU Student Center and at the Boone County Clerk’s Office. Mail-in absentee ballots must be received by the Boone County Clerk’s Office by 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.

Election night reporting

The Secretary of State’s Election Night Reporting site is available at enr.sos.mo.gov and will be updated throughout the evening of Nov. 3. The site will begin showing results once all voters have finished casting ballots.

Polling place rule reminder

Missouri election law prohibits wearing political apparel to the polls, advocating for a candidate or issue within 25 feet of a polling place or taking photos of ballots.

Leave your political masks, T-shirts, buttons and other apparel at home. You can snap a photo of your “I voted” sticker instead of your ballot.
