Looking for a class that’s interesting, fun or just a break from the usual? We asked University of Missouri students which courses are worth adding to your schedule. Here are Tigers’ top picks as you register for Fall 2026.

1. Acting for Non-Majors (THEATR 1400)

Channel your inner thespian and follow in the footsteps of Mizzou legends like Brad Pitt and Jon Hamm.

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of acting, including pantomime, improvisation and character analysis. Explore the creative process and gain an appreciation for the art of performing — and how it can translate to a variety of other fields.

2. Exercise Techniques (FPM 2130)

Take your workout routine to the next level.

What are the basic exercise techniques, and how can you train your body to move efficiently? Find out in this course, where you’ll gain a better understanding of how to create successful exercise programs for all body types.

3. Cultural Anthropology (ANTHRO 2030)

Where did we come from and how did we get here?

Dive into the history of the human species and the civilizations that came before us. Learn the basics of cultural anthropology and how to apply them to the study of individual societies and various aspects of culture.

4. American Sign Language I (SLHS 1100)

Express yourself in a new language.

Gain insight into the Deaf community and culture through the study of American Sign Language. Learn the fundamentals of the language, including the manual alphabet, basic vocabulary, and syntax and grammar.

5. Introduction to Floral Design (PLNT_SCI 2220)

You can buy yourself flowers — and learn how to make them into a beautiful bouquet.

Learn the art of creating stunning floral arrangements. This course covers the basics of floral design, focusing on design techniques, and  flower care and handling to ensure your blooms stay fresh and beautiful.

6. Intimate Relationships and Marriage (H_D_FS 1610)

Examine the relationships that define a family.

This course studies the historical and contemporary issues related to intimate and marital relationships, including love, behavior and conflict.

7. Survey of American History Since 1865 (HIST 1200)

Learn to think like a historian.

Journey through U.S. history and explore the political, economic, social and cultural changes that shaped the country post-Civil War.

8. Introductory Meteorology (ATM_SC 1050)

Never get caught without your umbrella.

Gain a basic understanding of the atmosphere and Earth’s climate. You’ll explore various aspects of meteorology including weather systems, societal impact and weather analysis.

9. General Psychology (PSYCH 1000)

What drives human behavior? This course aims to find out.

Gain an appreciation for the field of psychology by exploring key topics such as memory, perception and mental health. In addition, dive into the theories of psychology and the important research that has shaped the discipline.

10. Intro to Film Studies (ENGLSH 1800)

Are the Academy Awards your Super Bowl? This course is for you.

Go behind the scenes of movie magic and learn the science of film analysis. Uncover how cinematography, lighting, editing and other techniques influence your movie experience and make a film unforgettable.

11. Basic Concepts of Apparel Design and Production (T_A_M 1200)

What’s the science behind your comfiest pair of sweatpants?

Learn the fundamentals of textiles including design techniques, garment assembly and support materials. You’ll also examine the chemical composition and molecular arrangement of fibers, and how those factors affect function, performance and quality.
