With school out, summer is the ideal time to address construction needs at the University of Missouri. This summer, you’ll see scaffolding around the Jesse Auditorium addition of Jesse Hall to repair masonry, gutters and roofing, as well as HVAC improvements. A crane will be set up near the main entrance on the south side of Jesse Hall for cosmetic repairs to the dome.

Construction will begin after spring commencement weekend to minimize disruptions. Signs will guide pedestrians to alternate routes around the area.

This year, Campus Facilities is also debuting a new-and-improved construction impact map. Click on a project listed in the legend for more information. While there are often a few hundred projects going on campus at any one time, the map is intended to show projects that impact streets, sidewalks, parking lots and parking garages.

The City of Columbia plans to repair and repave streets on campus this summer, as well. Crews will work 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. to reduce impact to campus activities. Specific dates for each project will be listed on the construction impact map when the schedule is finalized.

Below is a list of major projects that may impact your path across campus this summer. Completion dates are subject to change based on weather and other factors.

Significant projects

The Jesse Auditorium project will involve comprehensive masonry repairs, roofing and roof access, gutters, refurbished HVAC equipment and a new smoke evacuation system. The Jesses Dome project consists of repairing cosmetic issues and touching up the paint.

Work is underway on the east side of campus to build The Michael L. Parson Meat Science Education and Learning Laboratory, a state-of-the-art facility to train future leaders in meat processing research, as well as workers in the industry, who will learn using new tools and technology. This facility is scheduled for completion in July 2026.

Renovations that began in 2023 to transform the Medical Science Building into a more advanced research hub are nearing completion. Construction was coordinated in three phases to allow research to continue throughout the project.

The Memorial Stadium Centennial Project will enhance the fan experience by enclosing the north end and adding premium seating options. The renovation will include up to 160,500 square feet of new construction featuring field-level suites, club sections and a 300-person Rock M Club built under the historic Rock M Hill. Keep an eye on the progress via the live construction camera.

An underground infrastructure improvement project may disrupt traffic patterns on the east, north and west sides outside of Memorial Union. Phase I of the project, on the north and west sides, is estimated for completion in August 2025 before fall classes begin. Phase II, on the east side between Memorial Union and Stewart Hall, is scheduled for completion in November 2025.

The University of Missouri Research Reactor production and supply/storageadditionswill house production lines for processing targeted radiotherapies used to treat neuroendocrine tumors and prostate cancer, as well as the storage and supply space in support of the new production lines. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2026.

The Stanley Hall project will include Child Development Laboratory playground renovations and repairs, a new entry hall, new classrooms, and reconfiguration of observation booths and offices. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2025.

Phase II of the Dr. Dan Brown Building includes demolishing the original building that is adjacent to Phase I, which was completed last fall. When completed in fall 2026, the roughly 73,000-square-foot complex will provide advanced biosafety and biosecurity, expanded diagnostic capacity, and dedicated teaching and research areas. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2026.
