Shelter Medicine Program — College of Veterinary Medicine
Part of every vet student’s required coursework, the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Shelter Medicine Program makes a real difference for animals in need across mid-Missouri. Students work alongside expert faculty and technicians in our surgical center and partner shelters, gaining hands-on experience in spaying/neutering, dentals, vaccinations, infectious disease prevention and other essential surgical procedures. Through this rotation, they learn cutting-edge skills to save lives, stop disease outbreaks and give shelter animals their best chance at a happy future.
