MEDIA ADVISORY: Mizzou’s Child Development Lab to announce new program at grand reopening celebration

WHAT:

The Child Development Lab (CDL) at the University of Missouri’s College of Education and Human Development will announce the launch of a new program called Recruit, Inspire, Support the Early Childhood Profession in Missouri (RISE-MO), with the goal to improve the early childhood workforce statewide. RISE-MO is supported by a MOExcels Workforce Initiative grant from the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development.

The announcement will be made during a grand reopening celebration following major renovations to the lab. At the event, the CDL will be officially recognized by the Missouri Office of Childhood as the first program in the state to receive the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Early Childhood Quality Designation via the Quality Assurance Report.

  • Kui Xie, dean and Joanne H. Hook Dean’s Chair in Educational Renewal at the College of Education and Human Development
  • Matthew Martens, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs
  • Brenda Lohman, chair of the Department of Human Development and Family Science
  • Deidre Anderson-Barbee, assistant commissioner of the Office of Childhood at the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
