Looking for your next family outing, date night or cultural adventure? You don’t have to look far. The University of Missouri is home to some of mid-Missouri’s most dynamic concerts, exhibitions and performances.

And now, they’re all under the umbrella of Mizzou Arts, a hub that brings together the legendary University Concert Series, museums and exhibits, music and theatrical performances. Whether you’re a longtime lover of the arts or just looking for something new, Mizzou Arts makes it easier than ever to explore live entertainment near you.

Here are three ways to let Mizzou entertain you.

1. Catch a show with the University Concert Series.

Now part of the College of Arts and Science, the University Concert Series brings unforgettable performances to Columbia. Founded in 1908 by the music fraternity Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the series originally focused on classical theatre, music and dance. Since then, the programming has expanded to include popular music, comedy and musicals.

    What to expect

    • The 2025-26 lineup features classic rock, Motown, gospel, musicals, ballet and Chinese acrobatics.
    • Performances are held in Jesse Auditorium and the Missouri Theatre.
    • Public ticket sales open Thursday, Aug. 7, but Concert Series members can access tickets in advance.

Mark your calendars: Planning ahead for the holidays? Don’t miss The Prophecy Show: Trans-Siberian Experience; Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet; and Rain: A Beatles Christmas Tribute.

    2. Explore art, archaeology, anthropology and more.

Mizzou’s museums and galleries inspire and inform visitors year-round. Gain a better understanding of society’s past and present at the Museum of Anthropology. Marvel at paintings, sculptures and historical artifacts from around the world at the Museum of Art and Archaeology. Enjoy the works of students and visiting artists at the Bingham Gallery. Additional exhibit openings will be held throughout the year.

    What to expect

    • The Museum of Anthropology and Museum of Art and Archaeology are located in the lower level of Ellis Library and include continuous and revolving exhibits.
    • The Museum Store offers unique gifts and art-themed collectables.
    • Located in the Fine Arts Building, the Bingham Gallery provides space and training for students and emerging arts professionals.
    • Special exhibits are installed in Columbia throughout the year and feature the work of students, faculty and visiting artists.

Mark your calendar: Family Day at the Museum of Art and Archaeology is 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17. This free, open-house event includes special activities for children and docent-led tours.

    3. Hear new sounds and enjoy classic performances.

Mizzou Arts also includes vibrant programming from the School of Music and Department of Theatre and Performance Studies. From original compositions to classic plays, this is your opportunity to experience new works from the next generation of composers, performers and directors.

    What to expect

Mark your calendar:What the Constitution Means to Me” — playwright Heidi Schreck’s play that imagines how the Constitution will shape the next generation —  will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, at the Rhynsburger Theatre. Hosted by the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies and the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy, it will feature professional actress Megan Murphy Chambers, BA ’01.

    Bonus

Mizzou Arts features events throughout the year for the community at no cost. Visit campus in the fall for Arts After Hours to enjoy an evening of music, design and performance on Lowry Mall on Wednesday, Sept. 17. Then plan to enjoy a night of visual works, music, theatre and inspiration at the Chancellor’s Arts Showcase. This annual celebration of the arts will be held on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, at the Missouri Theatre.
