Fall 2025 registration is coming up fast. Still searching for classes to fulfill some of those general requirements? Or maybe just looking to explore a new topic and broaden your horizons? We asked Mizzou students which classes are definitely worth taking, and they delivered. Here are Tigers’ top picks.

1. Classical Mythology (AMS 1060)
If you were (or still are) obsessed with the Percy Jackson books, this course is for you.
Study the mythology of the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. From Apollo to Zeus, learn how those mythological gods and goddesses and their stories influenced the art, literature and ideologies of the Western world.

Go behind the scenes of movie magic and learn the science of film analysis. Uncover how cinematography, genre, editing and other techniques influence your movie experience and make a film unforgettable.
4. Survey of American History Since 1865 (HIST 1200)
Learn to think like a historian.
Journey through U.S. history and explore the political, economic, social and cultural changes that shaped the country post-Civil War.
5. Intro to Human Nutrition (NEP 1034)
Get the recipe for healthy living.
In this course, you’ll learn about the nutrients your body craves, where to find them and how to fuel your fitness and wellbeing. Plus, learn food safety and how to make smart choices at the grocery store.
6. Intro to Floral Design (PLNT SCI 2220)
You can buy yourself flowers — and learn how to make them into a beautiful bouquet.
Learn the art of creating stunning floral arrangements. This course covers the basics of floral design, focusing on design techniques, flower care and handling to ensure your blooms stay fresh and beautiful.
7. General Psychology (PSYCH 1000)
What drives human behavior? This course aims to find out.
Gain an appreciation for the field of psychology by exploring key topics such as memory, perception and mental health. In addition, dive into the theories of psychology and the important research that has shaped the discipline.
8. The Art and Science of Living (PSYCH 2311)
Looking for the tools to explore life’s biggest questions? This course could be a good place to start.
Dive into topics that permeate everyday life — such as happiness, intimacy, money and despair — and how these topics have been studied by scientists and artists for centuries.
9. Intro to Sociology (SOCIOL 1000)
How do your experiences shape how you view the world?
Step into the world of sociology and learn how it helps us make sense of our social world. This course covers topics such as culture, identity and media, asking big questions like, “How do our cultural and social perspectives shape what we see?”
10. Intro to Criminal Justice (SOC_WK/CJS 1200)
It’s kind of like watching an episode of Law & Order.
Explore everything from policing and courts to crime theories. You’ll dive into the big debates about personal freedom and community safety and learn about the social and psychological factors behind crime.
11. Science of Textiles (TAM 2200)
What makes your favorite pair of pajamas so soft?
Explore the basics of textiles, from the chemical makeup and structure of fibers to how yarns and fabrics are made. Learn about different manufacturing and finishing techniques and how they affect the function, performance and quality of textiles.
