The University of Missouri provides a plethora of services and resources to ensure students excel. That’s one reason Mizzou’s retention rate of nearly 93% is much higher than the national average, and why more than 95% of Tigers see success within six months of graduation. It also contributes to the fact Mizzou is ranked No. 4 in best value among flagship universities.
As we head into the final weeks of the semester, now is the perfect time to take advantage of that support system. Bailey Reeder, an academic early alert coordinator for MU Connect, shares these five tips to stay on track:
1. Use MU Connect.
MU Connect allows you to browse support services available to you, review kudos and any flags you may have received from your instructors, schedule appointments and request help from a variety of support offices.
2. Check your email.
It’s important to check your Mizzou email account at least once a day. Set rules to highlight messages from your support team, including academic advisors and mentors, as well as important campus offices.
3. Connect with on-campus resources.
The Student Success Center has numerous offices and services to make sure you’re putting your best foot forward. Take advantage of tutoring and academic coaching from the Learning Center, get feedback on assignments from the Writing Center and more. These resources are free and available to everyone, both in person and online.
4. Meet with your advisors, mentors and others who are in your corner.
Continue to meet with advisors, mentors and trusted friends to get feedback and support. This will help you stay connected and energized through the rest of the semester.
5. Figure out when you do your best work and plan for it.
Do you work better in the morning? Late at night? After lunch? Try to coordinate your schedule so you can dedicate your best time to the work you need to do outside of class. Different semesters might call for flexibility, so don’t be afraid to try new methods to keep you on track.
