WHAT:

If you have noticed the cranes behind the South Providence Medical Park, you will see that construction is continuing on the new facility for the University of Missouri’s Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment. To celebrate the placement of the final steel beam atop the new facility, the Thompson Center is hosting a topping out ceremony.

Expected to open in spring 2026, the new facility will allow the Thompson Center to expand its services in Columbia to help meet the growing demand for families affected by autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders.

WHO:

Before the final beam gets placed, brief remarks will be made by Connie Brooks, executive director of the Thompson Center. Brooks — in addition to other Thompson Center employees — will ceremoniously sign the final beam.

WHEN:

11 a.m. to noon
 Friday, Aug. 23.

WHERE:

South Providence Medical Park
551 Veterans United Drive
Columbia, Missouri, 65201
