Mizzou to host Patriot Day wreath-laying ceremony

WHAT:

In recognition of Patriot Day, the University of Missouri and the city of Columbia will hold a wreath-laying ceremony to remember the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

The ceremony will include a procession and wreath laying; presentation of the colors by the Mizzou ROTC Joint Service Color Guard and city of Columbia Honor Guard; speaker remarks; and a flyover by an MU Health Care helicopter.

WHO:

Speakers include:

  • Matthew Martens, MU provost and executive vice chancellor
  • Barbara Buffaloe, city of Columbia mayor
  • Capt. Thomas Ulmer, commanding officer and professor of naval science, Mizzou Naval ROTC

Editor’s note

Music will be provided by Boone County Fire Protection District Pipe and Drums. In case of rain, the ceremony will be moved indoors to the Jesse Hall Rotunda.
