WHAT:
The 2023 Missouri State Fair will kick off this year’s festivities with tigers in mind at its first “Mizzou Day,” a themed celebration opening the fair on Thursday, Aug. 10, where the University of Missouri will serve as a Grand Champion sponsor.
The opening ceremony for the state fair will commence at 11 a.m. south of Agricultural Building 37 followed later in the day with a parade that begins at 6 p.m. on Missouri State Fair Boulevard.
Mizzou Day events include an opening ceremony at 11 a.m., followed by a Truman the Tiger roar contest for kids at 2 p.m. and a mascot meet-up at 3:30 p.m. The parade will close out the day. There will also be various MU colleges with accompanying booths at Mizzou Central.
University leadership will participate in additional events during the fair, including the Missouri State Fair Foundation Dinner, the Governor’s Ham Breakfast and the Governor’s Wine Reception.
Mizzou Day has special rates for admission for the fair are $7 for ages 13 and older and $2 for ages 6-12. Discounted adult advanced tickets are available until Aug. 9.
