MEDIA ADVISORY: From Mizzou to U.S. Ambassador: A career of international service

WHAT:

U.S. ambassador to Malawi and University of Missouri alumnus David J. Young will share his career path from Mizzou to the top ranks of the U.S. Foreign Service. During his presentation, Young will speak about his experiences serving in Africa, U.S. policy in the region and advice for those interested in international careers.

The event is open to the public. 

WHO:

David J. Young, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Malawi

David J. Young was sworn in as the U.S. Ambassador to Malawi on March 3, 2022. Prior to this assignment, he held numerous positions in Zambia, South Africa, Nigeria and Sudan.

Ambassador Young graduated from the University of Missouri in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. He went on to train in ecumenical studies at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland on a Rotary Foundation Scholarship. He received a Master of Divinity degree in social ethics and a Master of Arts in international relations from Boston University.
