During Faculty Excellence Week, the University of Missouri recognizes and honors its faculty for championing student success, research, teaching and learning at the highest level. The week-long celebration will run April 24-May 1 and include several events to commemorate faculty’s achievements and accomplishments.


Highlights of Faculty Excellence Week include the following events (Please note, some events are invitation only and not open to the public or media.)

Faculty Excellence Week Kickoff

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 24
South steps of Jesse Hall
Co-hosted by Mizzou Faculty Council, President Mun Choi and Interim Provost Matthew Martens
This casual event will include food, Truman the Tiger, Marching Mizzou, a series of fun giveaways and an opportunity to connect with fellow faculty members.

Faculty Book Authors Celebration

4-6 p.m. April 25
Museum of Art and Archaeology, Ellis Library
Hosted by President Choi and Interim Provost Martens
This event is designed to celebrate the faculty members who published a book during the 2023 calendar year.

Celebration of Excellence in Research and Creative Activity Film Screening: The Human Trial

April 29
Hosted by the Division of Research, Innovation and Impact
Geared to inspire faculty with outstanding research, scholarly and creative achievements, this event will feature exclusive screening of the award-winning documentary “The Human Trial,” including a Q&A with director Lisa Hepner.

Faculty Recognition Awards Ceremony

April 30
Co-hosted by President Choi and Interim Provost Martens
In recognition of the excellent achievements of MU’s faculty, this event will celebrate recipients of UM System awards as well as a selection of Chancellor and Provost awards for teaching, research, service, leadership and extension, as well as highly prestigious external awards from the past year. William T. Kemper Fellowships for Teaching Excellence Award Ceremony and Reception

May 1
Co-hosted by President Choi and Interim Provost Martens in partnership with Commerce Bank
