As Mizzou celebrates its 111th Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 22, the community is invited to participate in several traditional events. Media are welcome to attend.
The homecoming parade will begin at 9 a.m. and kickoff of the homecoming football game between the Mizzou Tigers and the Vanderbilt Commodores will be at 3 p.m.
This year’s homecoming parade will feature a new sensory friendly viewing area located on Fifth Street between Broadway and Cherry streets to make the tradition more accessible for people with sensory sensitivities. When floats, marching bands and community groups walk by the sensory friendly viewing area they will lower their noise levels and turn off any bright lights.
People with sensory sensitivities typically find events like parades overwhelming due to the loud noises and bright lights, and many families choose to not attend because the overwhelming environment. The sensory friendly viewing area will provide a better atmosphere for people with sensory sensitivities to experience the parade with fewer overpowering stimulants.

Homecoming Blood Drive
Monday, Oct. 10 to Thursday, Oct. 13, Hearnes Center – Mizzou's four-day Homecoming blood drive is one of the largest student-run blood drives in the country. Honor this Homecoming tradition by donating through any blood center or blood drive in your local area.
Dome Lighting Ceremony
Sunday, Oct. 16, 7 p.m., Traditions Plaza – We're Painting the Town Gold… and starting with Jesse Hall! Join us as we light the dome to celebrate the start of Homecoming Week.
Homecoming Talent Competition
Monday, Oct. 17 to Wednesday, Oct. 19, 6:30 p.m., Jesse Auditorium – Students will spend three nights entertaining audiences through skit, song and dance. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Campus Decorations
Friday, Oct. 21, 6:30 – 9 p.m., Greek Town, between Rollins Street and Kentucky Boulevard near campus – Don't miss this year's Campus Decorations displays and skits! Food will be available for purchase from local food trucks.
Homecoming Spirit Rally
Friday, Oct. 21, 8:30 p.m., Traditions Plaza – Stop by Traditions Plaza as Marching Mizzou and the Golden Girls help us get excited for the Homecoming football game!
Homecoming Parade
Saturday, Oct. 22, 9 a.m., MU campus and downtown Columbia – Strike up the band, alert the mule team and put on your best black and gold as we celebrate all we love about Mizzou!
Football Game
Saturday, Oct. 22, 3 p.m., Memorial Stadium – Cheer on the Tigers as they take on the Vanderbilt Commodores.
