WHAT:
Jerome Adams, former United States Surgeon General, will visit the University of Missouri to discuss why health inequities are a social justice issue.
The event will also feature a conversation between Adams and S. David Mitchell, the Ruth L. Hulston Professor of Law at MU and co-director of the Michael A. Middleton Center for Race, Citizenship and Justice. The event will include opportunities for audience questions.
Adams’ appearance is the keynote event for Black History Month celebrations at MU. This event is free and open to the public.
WHO:
Adams was confirmed as the 20th Surgeon General of the U.S. in 2017 after being nominated by President Donald Trump. Currently he is a distinguished professor, Presidential Fellow and executive director of health equity initiatives at Purdue University.
WHEN:
4 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28.
