The Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA) and the AFA Foundation, in partnership with Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, recently created the Shirley-Jefferson Fellow for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access (Shirley-Jefferson Fellow for DEIA).
The fellowship is co-named for Christopher Jefferson, director of Fraternity and Sorority Life at the University and an AFA Foundation board member, and AFA board member Zachary E. Shirley. Jefferson and Shirley are both members of Phi Beta Sigma.
The Shirley-Jefferson Fellow for DEIA will serve as an expert-in-residence for AFA, working in cooperation and collaboration with the association to advance DEIA priorities.
Jefferson was an active member of the fraternity and sorority community during his undergrad years at Mizzou and served as president of the National Pan-Hellenic Council. He earned both his bachelor’s in philosophy and his master’s in educational leadership and policy analysis at MU.
He has also worked with fraternity/sorority communities at the Pennsylvania State University, Indiana State University, North Carolina State University, Old Dominion University and George Mason University.
