Erika Aaron named assistant vice chancellor for inclusive engagement and constituent relations

Erika Aaron has been named assistant vice chancellor for inclusive engagement and constituent relations for the Division of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity, effective Oct. 3.

In her role, Aaron will oversee the Office of Inclusive Engagement, which promotes co-curricular activities, community outreach initiatives and resources that support academic and professional pursuits. Aaron will also oversee the Women’s Center, Multicultural Center, LGBTQ Resource Center, Gaines/Oldham Black Culture Center and Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention Center.

“I am excited to have Erika join our team,” said Maurice Gipson, vice chancellor for inclusion, diversity and equity. “I am confident that with her leadership, the Office of Inclusive Engagement and Constituent Relations will be better positioned to meet the evolving needs of our campus and community.”

Aaron previously served as the Director of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity at the Trulaske College of Business. As director, Aaron developed initiatives and programs for minority scholarships with support from donors and industry partners and created programming to provide additional resources for underrepresented populations. She also developed and managed the Allen Access Endowment Scholarship program and the SURE Fund program, as well as the Vasey Academy Scholars program for minority business students.

Aaron received her undergraduate degree in marketing from Hampton University in Virginia and her MBA from Roosevelt University in Illinois. She also holds a certificate in Corporate Citizenship Management from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College.

“Inclusive engagement requires that we reach, inform and involve key stakeholders on issues that are of importance and relevance on and off campus,” Aaron said. “Helping provide inclusive platforms, resources and programming where key groups are acknowledged, represented and/or supported is key to effective, inclusive engagement.”
