MEDIA ADVISORY: University of Missouri to host in-person commencement ceremonies for 2020 and 2021 graduates

What:

In April and May, the University of Missouri is hosting three weekends of commencement ceremonies for 2020 and May and August 2021 graduates. Students may invite up to six visitors who will be grouped in “pods” that are socially distanced from others while following health and safety protocols, such as wearing face coverings. To provide additional access, the ceremonies will be livestreamed.

Commencement ceremonies for 2020 graduates are taking place April 24-25. For a full schedule, please visit: https://commencement.missouri.edu/2020-graduates/.

Commencement ceremonies for 2021 graduates are taking place May 7-9 and May 14-16. For a full schedule, please visit https://commencement.missouri.edu/commencement/. Further information about the 2021 ceremonies, including information about honorary degree recipients, will be released in the coming weeks.

Doors will open one hour ahead of the ceremonies. Links to live streams will be available here: https://commencement.missouri.edu/commencement/events/.

Instructions for media:

Due to COVID restrictions, reporters will be allowed in to the 11:15 a.m. Saturday, April 24 ceremony for the 2020 graduates and the 1 p.m. Friday, May 7 ceremony for 2021 graduates. Media wishing to cover those ceremonies must contact Sara Diedrich at 573-882-6211 for further information.

At both ceremonies, media will be restricted to one area in Mizzou arena and will not be allowed to move about in the arena except to enter or exit the building. While in the building, face coverings must be worn over both the nose and mouth, and social distancing must be observed.
