Tiger Pantry, Truman’s Closet and STRIPES have found a new home on campus in the Hitt Street parking structure. During an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony last week, the three student-run organizations showcased their new facility — a milestone in their expanding efforts to serve the University of Missouri community.
“We’re celebrating more than a facility,” said Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Bill Stackman. “We’re also celebrating the resilience and creativity demonstrated by the volunteers who contribute their time and energy.”
The volunteers, student leaders and individuals served by the services will benefit from the central location on campus. Members of the Mizzou community who use the services will find more amenities, such as changing rooms at Truman’s Closet, due to the increased size of the facility.
The larger facility will allow the food and clothing services to support the increased demand they are seeing — and the on-campus location will cut down on wait times for students requesting STRIPES rides.
