B. Sherrance Russell named assistant vice chancellor for student diversity initiatives

B. Sherrance Russell has been named assistant vice chancellor for student diversity initiatives at the University of Missouri. This role is part of the The Division of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity and includes providing oversight for the Department of Social Justice.

Russell previously served as the chief executive officer and enrollment management consultant for Russell & Associates in Austin, Texas. He has extensive experience working with diverse students and previously served as the vice president for student affairs and enrollment management at Central State University.

A graduate of Texas Southern University, Russell earned his master’s degree in education from Langston University and a PhD in Urban Higher Education from Jackson State University.

“I have a deep commitment to diverse students and my primary goal is to promote spaces that allow a sense of belonging that provide outlets for educational, cultural and leadership development, advocacy and support,” Russell said.
