Winter Break

Reduced operations at Mizzou: What you need to know.

Dec. 19, 2017

During the December Board of Curators meeting, the Board approved new and improved CRRs (Collected Rules and Regulations) to support MU faculty and staff. One of the improvements was to establish an annual “reduced operations” period between Christmas Day holiday (or when it is observed if on a weekend) through the day before the New Year’s Day holiday (or when it is observed if on a weekend).

Because of this, many of the offices on campus will be closed. If you need help or support from faculty or staff before the end of the year, please contact them prior to winter break (before December 23) to avoid any unnecessary delays.

Frequently Asked Questions

General

Q: Why are offices closed?
A: The Board of Curators saw this as an opportunity to reward faculty and staff and that a good work-life balance helps ensure that staff and faculty are working at their best when they are on our campuses. This change also occurs at a time of year when the university’s efficiency will not be adversely compromised.

Q: What about the hospital and police?
A: This CRR does not apply to University of Missouri Health Care due to the nature of its year-round work. MUPD will continue to have officers on patrol.

Q: Is there a cost-savings for this decision?
A: The operations savings for the four UM campuses is approximately $125,000.

Q: The priority deadline has passed? Can I still apply to Mizzou?
